He is Professor and Dean at Ulster University. He has 250 publications and 11 books. He is Visiting Professor in Slovenia and Australia and chairs an accreditation panel in Hong Kong. He was adjunct professor at the University of Texas and Trinity College Dublin and Edinburgh Napier University awarded him an Honorary Doctorate. In 2017, he was appointed to chair Sub panel 3 for REF2021. In 2018 he chaired the Swedish Research Council’s Clinical Research Review.
